Replacing the traditional shape of the Les Paul in 1961 in an attempt to new and edgy, the SG quickly became a model of it's own. Used by many rock legends of the last century including Tony Iommi and Angus Young the SG has a firmly routed place in Rock'N' Roll History.
The mid - late 60s saw demand for students and beginners who couldn't quite afford a top end electric guitar. Juniors, Specials and Melody Makers were all simpler versions of the classic SG design. Coming with many different finishes and pickup combinations, P90s were and interesting choice for a traditionally humbuckerd guitar. Providing openness and sparkle that humbuckers could not, these lower end Gibson's soon became as popular as the higher end models.
This SG special has been reissued to look like a double P90 version of those guitars. Finished in beautiful 'faded pelham blue', it really is a gorgeous guitar. The pairing of a super light mahogany body (this one is 6.6lbs!) and P90s make for a tonally rich and interesting instrument.
It's in absolutely mint condition with no marks or damage and is a joy to play as much as it is a pleasure to hang on the wall and look at. It's well set up and comes with it's original padded Gibson gig bag.
